Asbestos Awareness Training mandatory under Regulation 17 of the Health and Safety at Work (Asbestos) Regulations 2016. These regulations stipulate that any employer, who’s employees work with asbestos, must be trained in the identification, safe handling, and control measures relating to asbestos. Work with asbestos is defined not only by employees in the identification and removal industry, but also anyone who’s normal occupation may inadvertently bring them into contact with asbestos.

The British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS) IP402 – Surveying and Sampling Strategies for Asbestos in Buildings course provides a range of theory and practical knowledge for those wishing to undertake asbestos building surveys. Candidates will receive training in the nature of asbestos and its associated health effects and a detailed review of the various products that contain asbestos. The course will cover the theory and practical aspects of planning and undertaking asbestos surveys in buildings.

Specially designed to suit the role of the asbestos assessor in New Zealand, IP404 is the international equivalent of UK qualification P404. This three-day course focuses on air monitoring and clearance inspections, air sampling strategies and clearance testing procedures.

The British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS) IP405 – Management of Asbestos in Buildings training course provides the trainee with the practical knowledge and skills to be able to manage asbestos in buildings and a knowledge base to audit asbestos removal projects. This is an ideal course for those persons responsible for managing asbestos in a building or estate, who have no real experience within the asbestos industry.
